On today’s episode of Making Bank, Josh is joined by Marc Polymeropoulos to discuss his time with the CIA serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the powerful lessons in leadership he learned along the way. In 2019, Marc retired from the Senior Intelligence Service ranks at the CIA after 26 years of service, including operational headquarters and field management assignments covering the middle east, Europe, Eurasia, and counter-terrorism. He is one of the CIA’s most decorated field officers. His last position was overseeing the CIA’s clandestine operations in Europe and Eurasia. Today, he’s a respected commentator on foreign policy and intelligence matters, and is widely quoted by both US and international media.  

After tagging along with his father on sabbatical in the middle east when Marc was 10 years old, he knew he wanted to grow up to do something special and unique for his country. In nearly three decades of service, Marc says he “never had a dull day at the office,” and learned countless priceless lessons in leadership, humility, and teamwork.  

Marc’s new book, Clarity in Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the CIA has been featured on Morning Joe, NPR, CNN International, and CBS This Morning. The book dives deeper into some of the leadership principles, lessons, and success strategies discussed in today’s episode.
